Creek Clean Up and Nandina Birth Control
The first volunteer event of our creek adoption was a success! Seventeen volunteers participated in the cleanup and Nandina berry removal. The creek is now cleaner, and we’ve reduced the chances of the invasive Nandina reproducing and offering toxic berries to the some of the local birds.
What a nice day! After some breakfast tacos we all enjoyed being down in the creek in this little pocket of nature in the city. Though the channel is deeply incised, one of the benefits is being so far below street level that it’s easy to forget you are in the city at all!
