Creek Adoption with Keep Austin Beautiful

Keep Austin Beautiful (KAB) approved our adoption of Harpers Branch Creek for the length of the Greenbelt on October 4, 2023!

Through KAB’s Adopt-a-Creek program, Friends of Harpers Branch Creek is committing to:

- “Adopt” a segment of an Austin creek for at least 2 years

- Conduct at least 4 restoration events per year

- Ensure the safety of those participating in your events

- Report volunteer information and project details

- Restore creek habitat through invasive species removal, native plantings, and erosion control

And some of the many benefits from KAB are:

- An Adopt-a-Creek certificate and tile

- Guidance with planning our events

- Access to KAB tools, native plants, and seeds

- Access to Keep Austin Beautiful and Watershed Protection Department staff to provide technical insight and advice

- Cleanup supplies and trash collection

- Adopt-a-Creek giveaways for our group

- Storm drain marking kits

- Monitoring kits for our group to track the progress of our creek segment

- Recognition on the Keep Austin Beautiful website

Many thanks to Keep Austin Beautiful in assisting us to take this important step in long term stewardship of Harpers Branch Creek Greenbelt and its segment of the creek!
